Joseph John took on his mortal coil in 1976 in Omaha, NE. As an only child, his parents were able to devote their existences to catering to his every whim. His Mom started by reading the newspaper to him, ensuring he was up to speed on current events. Once he outgrew the newspaper, she moved on to Golden Books. He read his first novel, Cujo, in the third grade. It hooked him, and he took to main-lining novels and working the libraries like an eight-year-old junky looking to score his next fix. He’s been an avid reader ever since, throwing his lot in with Frank and Joe Hardy, the three investigators, and much later, Roland Deschain and his ka-tet.
He somehow fooled Uncle Sam into believing he would one day make a great leader of men, and he was promptly shipped off to the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, where he languished in a turmoil of emotions that ranged from apathy to not giving a damn. This lent him to writing angst-filled poetry and short stories when he should have been paying attention in class or studying in the barracks, thereby resulting in the refinement of his craft and lending credence to that familiar idiom--you know, silver linings and all that.
In 1998, he graduated from West Point and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in Army Aviation. He attended flight school in Alabama, where he learned to wear cool shades and a leather jacket, and something about helicopters. You’ll have to forgive him. It was some years ago, and his memory is fading faster than a cheap tattoo.
In 2013, he decided to hang up his cool shades and leather jacket and don a pocket protector and masking-tape-repaired glasses, transitioning from Army Aviation to Operations Research and Systems Analysis. He’d spent the last fifteen years refining his skills and building a solid foundation of knowledge, so he figured what better time than the twilight of his career to throw all that out the window and start from scratch in an entirely new field.
He is currently serving a hardship tour of duty in Italy, where he spends his evenings sipping wine and riding in gondolas.

In an exciting, thrilling and very adventurous book by debut author Joseph John, The Eighth Day is a story that will keep readers riveted to the page from the very first all the way through to the end. Follow the story of protagonist Shawn Jaffe as he learns that his life may not be what he thought. When a stranger approaches him, tells him that his name is not Shawn, he's not an investment broker, and he's not from Ohio, and then disappears, his life is changed forever. He realizes that someone has been controlling him and his memories, and he's not sure why. But if he doesn't find out, his very life may be in danger.
I so enjoyed The Eighth Day. Author Joseph John has done a fantastic job in writing a real nail biter of a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. His ability to create characters that his readers will find interesting, will relate to, and will ultimately care about is second to none. Some of the scenes are so well described that readers will feel as if they are truly in the scenes with Shawn, and gasping for breath to keep up. Any reader who enjoys action, adventure, a thrilling read with a mysterious backdrop, or just a great work of fiction should absolutely read The Eighth Day. I highly recommend this book, and am hoping that author Joseph John is already hard at work on a follow up. I, for one, will be keeping my eye out for it!
