Ivor Dogsbreath is a cowardly Englishman who wished to find riches when he sailed to America but was disappointed when he did not find any streets paved with gold. Dogsbreath cannot explain how he found himself at the entrance to Skunk Hole Town and reading its population registry, which lists deaths of residents by gunshots. He knows this is a dangerous place, but he still goes in and finds a job immediately. After an encounter with the local goons, he lands himself the job of the deputy mayor and later becomes the town's marshal. All these appointments are based on a misunderstanding but Dogsbreath fails to correct everyone. Dogsbreath makes unlikely allies and enemies, but will he be the hero everyone needs, or will he get shot and be the next record on the town's population registry? Get yourself a copy of The Good, The Bad And The Haddock (The Dogsbreath Histories Book 4) by Keven Shevels to find out what happens next.

This is one of the funniest and wildest books I have ever read. The Good, The Bad And The Haddock) is unpredictable and chaotic. Every scene surprised me, and I applaud Keven Shevels’ creativity and imagination. I did not know where the story was going, but I enjoyed the ride. I could not put the book down because I did not want to miss anything. There were a lot of things going on and many characters with crazy personalities. The story is set in the wild west, and the author painted a picture-perfect scene with a few exaggerated moments, but I loved all the drama. From the gunfights to the lifestyle and accents, everything was entertaining. If you wish to read a book with lots of drama and comedy, then look no further; this is the book you must read. Brilliant work.

Prepare for an action comedy western odyssey with The Good, The Bad and The Haddock by Keven Shevels. Ivor Dogsbreath arrives at the town of Skunk Hole in the middle of nowhere, broke and looking for revenge. But after accidentally disarming one of Rattlesnake Cyril's gunslingers, an unexpected series of events lead him to become the new Marshall, with two Native American deputies as his underlings, and another an actual angry Indian from India. Meanwhile, Badde Guy, a ruthless businessman, is buying up land all over town, putting the squeeze on people with Rattlesnake's crew. It forces Stephanie Tooting to hire the help of the infamous Hole in the Jeans Gang for protection. Now, as the three unlikely factions come head to head, it leads to an epic shootout the town will never forget.

Fans of Westerns will find plenty to love in The Good, The Bad and The Haddock. Keven Shevels puts a comedic twist on the old Western genre with a seamless blend of humor and action that entertains you throughout. With colorful and vibrant characters and a plot as chaotic and unpredictable, it is an absolute blast to read. Featuring characters like Beth Cassidy and the Suntan Kid, you probably get the idea why this will be a hit amongst Western genre lovers. The quick back and forth during the dialogue and the chaotic action sequences reminded me of Quentin Tarantino's movies. All in all, you're guaranteed to be entertained.

The Good, The Bad And The Haddock is a work of fiction in the historical fiction, humor, and adventure subgenres, and it forms the fourth novel in The Dogsbreath Histories book series. Penned by author Keven Shevels, the work is best suited to mature readers owing to its adult language and content. Taking us back a few generations, this particular novel tells a standalone tale of Ivor Dogsbreath, the great-great-great-grandfather of the current-day Ivor of previous books, who rides into town in search of work and gets a lot more than he bargained for. As dangerous men on bloodthirsty missions go about their search for personal justice, Ivor’s amusing mishaps help him navigate through the carnage to (hopefully) survive it unscathed.

Author Keven Shevels has a flair for spoof that makes these pleasant and concise novellas really easy to read. I enjoyed the fact that the work is dialogue-driven, which makes the action feel lively and fast-paced as we move through the theatrics, quick laughs, and engaging drama of each short scene with ease. The dialogue itself captures a fantastic spirit of the Old West whilst also keeping the gags modern and relevant for contemporary readers, and I enjoyed the turns of phrase and misunderstandings that lead to some really corking exchanges between characters. I also really enjoyed the diversity of people portrayed in the work, shattering Hollywood-esque ideas of the Old West in favor of a more varied and interesting ensemble. Overall, I would certainly recommend The Good, The Bad And The Haddock for fans of the existing series and those seeking a fun and fast-paced historical humor read.

The Good, The Bad and the Haddock by Keven Shevels is the fourth volume in The Dogsbreath Histories series and tells the story of Ivor Dogsbreath in the Wild West. His adventures begin with his arrival at Skunk Hole, where he gets a job cleaning out the spittoons at the Thirsty Pony saloon. However, after our hero manages to get the better of Tex Tucker, he is made deputy and then marshal. At that point, Dogsbreath tries to run away, but things do not go as he hoped. So what will happen to Dogsbreath? And what adventures and shootings await the inhabitants of this small town in the Wild West?

The Good, The Bad and the Haddock is an incredible yarn. Everything that happens on these pages is an adventure. Ivor Dogsbreath is just one of the characters with whom you will have a lot of fun. There are so many of them, to the point that one might think this is not just the story of Ivor Dogsbreath but of the entire Wild West town. Such a quantity of characters would have been unmanageable for a less skilled writer than Keven Shevels. Instead, the author describes each of them as they deserve and also writes a compelling and entertaining novel. What can be better than this? I recommend it to those who enjoy reading stories set in the Wild West.

In The Good, The Bad And The Haddock by Keven Shevels, Ivor Dogsbreath of Slagbottom, England, is now in the American Wild West, gets thumb-hurt, and wants to leave town but cannot afford it, so he picks up a shovel to move horse poop before unintentionally becoming a bonafide sharpshooter. As a result, Dogsbreath, the gunfighter who has never fired a gun, is given his own and is made a deputy. This does not sit well with the infamous Rattlesnake Cyril, who enjoys killing other people's brothers and fathers. Crime is high with homesteads being forcefully sold at under-market value and ranch hands like poor old Frosty Nuts being shot dead, all at Rattlesnake Cyril's hand or command. When Dogsbreath becomes the default law enforcer, he does what any self-respecting man would do: he steals a horse, severely injures himself, and recuperates with a band of strangers. And this is all before the rise of the Hole in the Jeans Gang, who are not pleased about being accused of a stagecoach heist. Oh, and there's also a stagecoach heist.

Keven Shevels keeps the comedy coming in The Good, The Bad And The Haddock, the fourth book in The Dogsbreath Histories, preceded by book one, The Haddock Flies at Midnight, book two, A Song of Ice and Haddock, and book three, The Maltese Haddock. Shevel writes stories that are comedic and this is no exception. His play on names is always good but the incorporation of famous cowboy folk in the old American West and recreating those names as figures in the storyline is extra fun. Dot Holiday, Milly the Kid, and Beth Cassidy are among the best, although Jesse James is excellent too...but he's not a made-up name. So, there's that going against him. There is a Tombstone feel to the whole arc that is prefaced by a beer belch from Dogsbreath that sounds like he is saying the name 'Earp' when someone asks him what his name is. The jokes are constant and most land spectacularly. As with the rest of the series, stereotypes of people of all races are amplified. If a Native American named Red Feather Patel—as in feather, not dot—leads to secondhand embarrassment, this series isn't a good fit. For everyone else, enjoy.
