Author Biography

Chauncey McGlathery is the award winning author of The Hero's Journey. He is a man on a mission to dismantle barriers to health and wellness. Chauncey uses his Electrical Engineering and Civil Rights Law background to work with regional stakeholders and global collaborators to develop a set of highly strategic, targeted and achievable health and wellness priorities for any marginalized community. Chauncey is a natural bridge-builder and looks forward to exploring the structural inequities and epidemic intersections of race, gender, and identity politics. Chauncey remains convinced that as we become more aware of these inequities and intersections within ourselves, we will become more compassionate and inclusive in our everyday interactions and advocacy.

Chauncey McGlathery is a man of many talents. In his book, The Hero’s Journey: Deliver Yourself from Evil, he shares his theories on improving yourself and saving yourself from the performance trap. His method includes embracing the performance mentality and using it for good. Chauncey believes (to paraphrases Shakespeare) that all life is a performance. He shares how he learned to love genuinely and that love allowed him to look to the needs of others. If one thinks life is all about themselves, they lose. Chauncey turned his lifestyle and philosophy around before he was able to start winning. His winning was because he began to head in the right direction. The correct style of living leads to generous giving. Chauncey learned that it is not about what he receives but about what he can give.
