The Last Dogs: Dark Waters is the second part of a wonderful adventure geared towards kids but great for all ages. Max and his two friends, Gizmo and Rocky, continue their search for their pack leaders. Their humans, along with many others, have disappeared and they seek answers as to why and where they went. Their travels take them through perilous situations, introduce them to new friends, and encounter "bad humans" whose intentions are shady. When they find clues in a laboratory that has been used for testing animals, they find key information that answers many of their questions. Now, if they can just get to their goal location, perhaps they can once again be reunited with the people they love so much.

This is the second book in a series written by Christopher Holt. It is really important to read the first book so that everything that happens here will make sense. There is a lot of information that begins to tie together and helps the plot gain momentum quickly. I personally love this story. It is an audio book that I will probably listen to again and again in my commute to and from work. The characters are fun and imaginable. The narrator obviously loves his job and puts everything into his rendition of the story. The characters have fun personalities and the perseverance one could only hope to have in times of tribulation. I highly recommend this book to libraries and schools. All I want to know is...is book three out yet?!
