Author Biography

Toni Cabell is an award-winning author of fast-paced fantasies featuring swords, magic, and romance!

Toni writes young adult fantasy novels packed with dizzying action, imaginative magic, and a lot of heart. She makes her home in a small village along the shores of Lake Michigan with her handsome husband and grumpy miniature schnauzer.

When Toni told her fifth-grade teacher that she wanted to be a writer, neither of them expected Toni’s journey to include stints as a nurse’s aid, personal banker, instructional designer, real estate broker, systems analyst, and youth director. Toni is thrilled to be an indie author and does at least half her writing in the middle of the night, which may explain her wild plot twists and unforgettable characters.

Seventeen-year-old Solace was the daughter of a poor soldier named Soren and a water diviner from the Yeloshan hills. She was a fierce lass with spirit, guts, and determination. Solace also had the gift of water divination like her mother. One day, on her way home from discovering new wells for the Thielers, Rhees kidnapped her. Rhees was an angry lad from Toresz, a country ruled by the wicked King Neuss. His people lived in squalor because they had scraped the arid lands to pay for everything, including water wells given by nature. Rhees was desperate for Solace to help his people find water because he had a secret. Overcoming drought was the first step to liberation. Would Solace brave the sword of King Neuss by helping Rhees? Find out in The Lightness of Water: Water Witch by Toni Cabell.

Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes, the worst situations are blessings in disguise. The Lightness of Water: Water Witch by Toni Cabell was a riveting novel that held my attention from the first chapter. This book featured royal politics, greed, grief, loyalty, deception, and a subtle game of thrones. I also witnessed a David and Goliath moment that added flavor to the story. Who could have thought that the underrated sling would decide their fates? I loved the plot, pacing, storyline, character development, and dialogue. The language also fascinated me because it flung me back some centuries. All the characters fighting for justice were exceptional, from Maysel to Fenwith, Tomyss, the star casts, and more. I adored them. This novel was a captivating first installment of the Water Witch series from the talented Cabell. I await the sequel with bated breath.
