Author Biography

Christine Skippins held a long career in finance before focusing on her writing and illustration, and it didn’t take long for her to recognise her niche once that happened.

After signing up at a local animal rescue centre in an effort to get involved in a local charity, Chris discovered the inspiration for her series, The Magic of Misty Nook.

As a teenager, Chris worked in a pet shop, where she frequently tried to adopt, often against her parent's wishes, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even puppies that needed homes.

Over the years, Whiskey the Collie and numerous other pets shared their lives with Chris, but her transformative experience came while helping at an animal sanctuary. She was filled with admiration for the animals and the team that rehabilitated them. And The Magic of Misty Nook was born.

Today, she brings wonderful animal characters to life by telling how scared and lonely souls find love and kindness at Misty Nook.

A native of Chichester, England, Chris is a Mum to a grown son and daughter, and Rizzo her spaniel. Nanny to her four-year-old grandson, Harry, Ivy the Labrador, and Rolo the Spaniel.

A naturally active and creative person, Chris spends her mornings out with her dog, forming stories in her head whilst enjoying the beautiful West Sussex countryside around her home.

Losing herself in a good book in her garden with a glass of wine is one of her favourite ways to unwind.

The Magic of Misty Nook, Kitty Kat Rescue by Christine Skippins is Little Frank's Story. Little Frank is a little cat, only four months old and already two lives down. First, he was taken too early from his mum and, second, his humans didn’t look after him properly. Left to look after himself, he got into trouble and injured his back leg. But now it seems like life is looking up for Frank. The Kitty Kat Rescue elves have heard of him and want to look after him. So, taking him into their home and hearts, they show Frank what love is like, especially when he meets Sparkle, a lovely little girl kitten. Can they possibly find a home together? A forever home, perhaps?

The Magic of Misty Nook, Kitty Kat Rescue: Little Frank’s Story by Christine Skippins is a beautiful story with lovely illustrations that bring the story to life. Kids will love this heart-warming tale of a kitten who gets off to a bad start but is rescued and given a new life. It’s more than just a story; it teaches kids that animals have the right to be cared for and have a happy, safe life. It’s also not a fictional story; Sparkle and Frank are real cats from the real Kitty Kat Rescue home. I loved how this was written as if Frank were telling his story; it made it even more engaging and fun to read. It is an excellent story that is ideal for kids with a lesson for them in looking out, not just for animals, but for other people too.
