Dragons, unicorns, and adventure are all found in Gina Sano's second book in the series, The Magical Eggs on Dragon's Lair: The Key, the Coin, and the Ring. Set three years after the events in the first book, twins Evette and Adam are concerned about their island home. The government intends to build a dam, and Dragon's Lair would be flooded. They enlist the help of their friends Jane and John to explore the caves on the island. Mysterious things start to happen, and danger follows. Their explorations lead them to hidden gems, enchanted items, the White Dragon Queen, and a magician. Will any of these things help them to save their precious island?

Magical Eggs on Dragon's Lair: The Key, the Coin, and the Ring intertwines the real world with the magical one. The twins and their friends rely on their wits and some helpful magic to navigate the pitfalls they encounter. The story moves briskly, and kids will root for the foursome to defeat the White Dragon Queen and save their remarkable island. Some color illustrations and maps of the island interspersed throughout the book add depth to the tale. The short chapters make this a good choice for kids transitioning from early readers to chapter books. Gina Sano pairs self-reliant kids with an intriguing fantasy world that will spark the young reader's interest. It is optional to have read the first book in the series, although it might be helpful. Magical Eggs on Dragon's Lair: The Key, the Coin, and the Ring will delight young fantasy lovers.

The Magical Eggs on Dragon’s Lair is the second book in Gina Sano’s tale of the adventures of twins Evette and Adam on the island where they live. Together with their friends Jane and John, they love exploring the caves near their house, but the whole island is under threat due to the proposed construction of a dam. This means that all the families will be relocated to the mainland and resettled behind the airport. No one is happy about this but countless letters to the authorities have had no effect. In the first of this series, the twins found magical objects that led to earlier adventures namely a key, a ring, and a coin. In this story, they explore further into the caves with their friends and meet all kinds of magical people, including a queen, a magician, and three eggs with very special powers.

Gina Sano’s The Magical Eggs on Dragon’s Lair is beautifully illustrated. The clear and bright drawings are sure to appeal to a young audience. There are all kinds of magical creatures to meet, including a talking ring, a coin, and a key. But my favorites are the unicorns and there is a lovely explanation and information on these mythical creatures and some interesting information about diamonds and precious stones. The twins sensibly leave messages as to where they are going and at what time, which I thought was an excellent idea. The dialogue was easy to follow and suitable for younger readers who will also enjoy the magic language. I would advise reading book one first to get to know the characters and understand the full properties of the magical discoveries. The idea of young people exploring caves on their own is a little scary, but it’s a story and the magic sets it firmly apart from everyday life.

Dragon’s Lair is the center of attention once again. It seems like plans are underway to build a dam near the community. If these plans succeed, the people of Dragon’s Lair would have to abandon their homes and seek alternative accommodation before the entire area is submerged. Adam and Evette Smith have no intention of moving from the area. They have had too many adventures in their quiet community to watch it get washed away in the name of progress, so they join forces with their friends Jane and John on a new adventure to find a solution before it is too late. Find out if they can save their town in The Magical Eggs On Dragon’s Lair: The Key, the Coin, and the Ring (Book 2) by Gina Sano.

In The Key, The Coin, And The Ring, the twins are a bit older with the added advantage of having new friends accompanying them on their adventures around the town of Dragon’s Lair and its environs. Their conversations display an increased maturity as they show an active interest in resolving a problem they did not create. The tasks assigned to the children are intricate and designed to encourage young readers to think outside the box while immersing them in the adventure. What stands out about this book is how Gina Sano infuses a familiar edge by referencing occurrences from the children’s previous adventures and linking them to the events in this story. Her execution is practically flawless and the plot is simple enough for a first-timer to the series to follow. Sano’s easygoing storytelling approach guarantees that adventure enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy this book.

The Magical Eggs on Dragon's Lair: The Key, the Coin, and the Ring (Book 2) by Gina Sano explores the adventures of teenage twins, Adam and Evette, on a mission to save their hometown. The government wants to build a dam and relocate the Dragon Lair community because everything will be underwater. But Adam and Evette and everyone living there love the location and do not want to move. Despite multiple letters of protest to the politicians in charge, plans for the dam are going ahead. In a final attempt to show the government that Dragon’s Lair is unique, Adam and Evette set out on another adventure with their friends Jane and John. In Dragon's Lair's magical and fantastical caves, they find elves, unicorns, dragons, talking coins, rings, eggs, and precious gems. And now they must prove to the authorities that this fantasy world exists.

The Magical Eggs on Dragon's Lair (Book 2) by Gina Sano is adventurous and mystical with a positive underlying message about friendship, community, and collaboration when the four friends and the community rally to save Dragon’s Lair. The content is an easy read, perfect for children and teenagers. The illustrations are striking and beautiful, grabbing one's attention. Some unexpected twists and turns were often funny and delightful. I did not anticipate the events that emerged. The characters were all unique, and there was a dynamic of support and protectiveness toward each other, which was endearing. It is a feel-good book with worthwhile lessons for readers to heed. I especially enjoyed how the friends always notified their family about where they were or left notes in case of an emergency.
