But my favorites are the unicorns and there is a lovely explanation and information on these mythical creatures and some interesting information about diamonds and precious stones. The twins sensibly leave messages as to where they are going and at what time, which I thought was an excellent idea. The dialogue was easy to follow and suitable for younger readers who will also enjoy the magic language. I would advise reading book one first to get to know the characters and understand the full properties of the magical discoveries. The idea of young people exploring caves on their own is a little scary, but it’s a story and the magic sets it firmly apart from everyday life.

Some unexpected twists and turns were often funny and delightful. I did not anticipate the events that emerged. The characters were all unique, and there was a dynamic of support and protectiveness toward each other, which was endearing. It is a feel-good book with worthwhile lessons for readers to heed. I especially enjoyed how the friends always notified their family about where they were or left notes in case of an emergency.
