The Fire Elves have begun a second rebellion, and they're set to burn the land of Yohan. Is there any hope for its residents? As an orphan, James finds himself mixing with the wrong crowd and almost gets sent away as punishment for trying to steal wands from Master Wand-Maker Othano. Fortunately, James is saved from the streets by Othano, who welcomes him into his home and teaches him the importance of reading and gaining knowledge. However, Othano departs for an important mission, leaving James to face the increasing threat of the rebels who aim to destroy Yohan. James must find a way to survive and fight back or watch everything he loves burn. In The Owl-Headed Wand, Daniel Peyton weaves a magical tale about a heroic, intelligent protagonist and an action-packed battle against vicious, power-hungry villains.

Merlin, Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson fans will not want to put The Owl-Headed Wand down. The magic is mind-blowing, and the protagonist is the kind you will like. Various emotions drive him, and he must learn to temper his rage over his unfortunate loss as an orphan. Additionally, the riveting action and magic combo had me entranced. I loved the different magical abilities, like shooting fireballs and windsurfing. Prepare to have your mind engaged as James uses his intelligence to create complex strategies to overpower his enemies. Also, some profound messages about the power of positive emotions and the value of learning are smartly woven into the narrative. Daniel Peyton's book provides the perfect escape. It engages your mind, hooks you emotionally, and leaves you richer in knowledge--a young adult fantasy masterpiece.
