The Perfect Sister by Gail Meath is a historical romantic mystery taking place in the year 1904 in Rochester, New York. The story has love, hate, politics, murder, suspense, and every page offers excitement. Lorraine is “perfect”. Her father adores her, she is always the belle of the ball and has many men bewitched. Lorraine is murdered very early in the story, however, and we learn she wasn’t really perfect but was mixed up in a lot of bad things. Her sister Katherine is shy, reserved, afraid of her own shadow, picked on by her father as being weak, and mostly stays in her room or escapes to her hidden cabin to paint. Michael is both the good and bad guy in this story – some believe him to be a killer while others are convinced of his innocence and will do whatever it takes to prove it. Jack is the evil politician that plays a bold part in both Lorraine's and Katherine’s lives.

I really enjoyed reading The Perfect Sister by Gail Meath very much. As I read, I found myself holding my breath several times and hoping Katherine survived in her aim to find Lorraine’s killer and end a very crooked politician conspiracy. I rooted for the good guys and really wanted to help the bad guys get what they deserved. The Perfect Sister is well written with a very strong plot and characters. I believe that everyone who enjoys historical, romantic, and or suspenseful murder mysteries will find something special about The Perfect Sister. In my opinion, this book is a winner.
