The Rising Order by Claire Isenthal is a fast-paced terrorist thriller. Flynn was attending a concert of her favorite band with friends at the arena when the world exploded around them and shots were fired. While running away from the chaos, a member of REDS could have killed Flynn but instead took her hostage. Flynn was tortured and told to cooperate with REDS to keep her family and friends safe, or she would be killed. As a recruiter at Magnetic, Flynn is valuable to REDS. She has to help appoint a key person in their organization. This person will help with the terror attack from within Magnetic. Their goal is to transition Chicago’s electrical management onto Magnetic’s network. REDS wants to overturn civilization by unleashing the catastrophic devastation of Chicago.

The Rising Order meets all the criteria for a riveting page-turner. Claire Isenthal described the mass shootings and acts of violence in detail. I was drawn into the world she created, and I could see and smell the smoke of the bombings and shootings. At times the tension was overwhelming with heart-racing moments. The plot was engaging and hooked me from the start until the end. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were brilliantly developed. They were authentic and robust. Flynn was my favorite character. At times, I was anxious about everything happening to Flynn and what she had to go through. The story was superbly written and much more than I expected. The story ended well and was fitting.
