The Spires of Dasny: Queen of Dragons is the second installment of the young adult fantasy series written by Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait. It's been five years since the battle of Ganeth, and peace finally reigns over the valley of Spires. But calamity strikes when during a trip, sixteen-year-old Elky and her dragon Ustice are captured by a band of Xi and taken to their lands in the far east. Seer Ho'gun discerns that the sorcerers of the far east want to steal Dragon Magic from Elky. As the Beljeem Warriors undertake a daring rescue mission, Seyra and her dragon Dreyth join the forces. After completing the rescue operation, Seyra accepts Dreyth's proposal to become the Dragon Queen and prepares for war with the sorcerers.

This is an entertaining young adult novel filled with action and magic. Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait's book draws elements from traditional fantasy like dragons, riders, and sorcerers and utilizes them to significant effect with an original story set in a captivating world. Despite being unfamiliar with the previous entry, I never felt lost at any moment and immersed myself in the story. I found that the book worked out seamlessly as a standalone. The protagonist Seyra and her dragon Dreyth felt instantly likable, and I was rooting for them all the way. The plot moves quickly, and the frequent action sequences make for an explosive narrative. I enjoyed The Spires of Dasny: Queen of Dragons, and I would recommend it to young adult fantasy fans.
