The Tales of Scuba Steve (Isfjell Point) is a children’s picture book written by Steven Kamlet with illustrations by Shannon Marsolais. The book is inspired by the author’s scuba diving experiences. It follows the story of the best swim instructor, Scuba Steve, and his students, Ben, Oliver, Al, Danielle, and Ava. Scuba Steve’s classes are special because he uses magic to transport his students to different parts of the ocean and gives them practical lessons about the ocean. In this installment, the class swims to the Arctic and learns to survive in cold water. They explore the region, interact with the sea creatures, and clean the ocean.

I loved reading The Tales of Scuba Steve (Isfjell Point) because it is informative, adventurous, and entertaining. Readers will learn about glacial calving, the Northern Lights, the Arctic Circle, and how to make floatation devices with clothes. Steven Kamlet raises awareness about plastic pollution in the ocean and how it causes harm to sea creatures and their habitats. Children will be introduced to a cast of amazing characters and have fun going on adventures with them. I love that the characters have distinct personalities and great chemistry. The magical element of the story is what makes it fun to read and gives the series endless possibilities. The author can take the characters on an adventure to any place in the world and teach readers about it. The colorful illustrations perfectly correspond with the story and helped me visualize the characters and their surroundings. I highly recommend parents and caregivers read this book with their children and explore and learn about the ocean together.
