No matter what you used to believe, Santa’s elves are not magical beings in pointy hats. They are ordinary humans like you and me, except they have some traumatic experiences in their past. Santa, or Mr. C as his beloved elves call him, has a year-round operation going on in the Arctic. Curtis, an elf involved in a flight accident years ago, has always spent the anniversary of that fateful day alone, drinking himself to oblivion. This year, however, his assigned shift will require him to spend the day among other elves. Curtis wants out at any cost, but you never disobey a direct order from Mr. C. The Truth About Elves, a Christmas-based novella by Ekta R. Garg, recounts Curtis’s story.

I consider myself fortunate to have come across this book. Boasting a beautiful cover and an intriguing premise, the novella instantly grabbed my attention. The storyline was bittersweet, tugging at my heart on every page. I could empathize with Curtis, who relentlessly battled his PTSD and guilt for ten long years. I desperately wanted a little of Santa’s magic to heal him. When his circumstances forced him to comply with Santa’s mysterious plan, my spirits lifted, and I dared to hope again, only to dissolve into tears in the end. This book has moved me in indescribable ways, making me contemplate the secrets of a happy life. I loved this magical tale of healing. Ekta R Garg deserves kudos for presenting us with The Truth About Elves, an enchanting Christmas story for adults. After all, everyone needs a touch of magic now and then!
