The Writer and the Librarian by R.L. Geer-Robbins captured my attention with its detailed, first-person narrative and well-rounded characters. Not only was I drawn in by its mysterious and unusual plot but also by the peculiar characters and the identities they chose to portray as members of the Raven Society. Geer-Robbins introduced me to a new world filled with endless possibilities. I crossed the threshold of reality and entered a realm of myths and forgotten pasts. I followed Chloe’s adventure with anticipation as she joined this elite group and found herself caught up in something she never expected. Chloe was an intriguing protagonist. Her choice of character surprised me and I admired her for it. It was a powerful decision that suited her innate self and the person she wished to become. Reading the story from her perspective allowed me to connect with her and understand the depth of her thoughts and her bravery. The book took me on an astounding and memorable voyage with its engrossing narrative and distinctive story structure. Geer-Robbins has crafted an exceptional plot, so it was hard to put the book down once I started. This was truly a triumph and I can’t wait for the next one.

Adding to the already escalating situation, the owner of the Book of the Veiled is trying to find her daughter who disappeared at the same time as the book. Chloe’s mother Moll revealed that she’s the only one who can walk through the doors of history and not only get the book back but save the daughter as well. Is Chloe up to the task and how far would she go to protect and save these newfound friends who have finally given her a sense of belonging?

I am so glad that I picked this book. I found Chloe’s story fascinating, but I also love the idea of a secret society of intellectuals and writers who guard a book such as The Book of the Veiled. I liked Chloe’s character because I can relate to her when it comes to writing or creating, whether it’s words on paper or, in my case, stitches on a new dress I’m making. Eidolon was always a great personality with a solid background, which I enjoyed. I love that each character is fleshed out and not just vague when it comes to who they are as a person or in sharing their past. R.L. Geer-Robbins has done a great job with The Writer and the Librarian, and I can’t wait to read the second part of this series.

The Writer and the Librarian is a thrilling story that quickly unfolds to reveal layers of intrigue, suspense, adventure, magic, and wizardry. It contains doses of humor, sarcasm, mild romance, and supernatural creatures. It’s not hard to become fully absorbed in the story, as it’s beautifully narrated by Chloe, who is quick-witted and has a personality that speaks volumes. Her character, like the others, is fully developed and unique. I loved everything about this novel by R.L. Geer-Robbins. You will also enjoy reading the book.

But it wasn’t just The Raven Society trying to get their hands on it; creatures and people far more powerful wanted it as well. Could Chloe be the key to finding the Book of the Veiled?

Heroes are made, not born and Chloe was the best example of that. Chloe was fantastic. She was imaginative, receptive, and best of all, she was a go-getter. She was the missing piece of The Raven Society, the writer they needed to complete their team. The story was incredible. The intrigue was there from the get-go, the suspense to find out who sent the invite to Chloe, why they needed her and why it was all happening to her made me read for hours. Author R.L. Geer-Robbins created the perfect universe where our fables and myths co-exist with reality. The world-building was phenomenal and each character truly fitted into their roles. I loved how cool Eidolon was, and how supportive Sydney was, and Moll and Aelle were super talented (and the perfect companions for Chloe). The ending was surprising and very unexpected. But it was perfect because now I am looking forward to the second novel in the series to find out what happens next!
