“Top of the World: Toot & Puddle,” written by Holly Hobbie and shared in an audio version, is an adorable story of friendship for young children that adults too will enjoy listening to. Puddle sees a note on the table when he wakes up one morning from Toot saying that he has gone for a walk and he will be back soon. Puddle misses Toot that day, but when he has not arrived home by dinner time, he is worried and decides to go searching for him. Puddle finally finds Toot far away from home and they decide to climb to the top of the highest mountain in the world. They both come to the conclusion that they like to go away on trips, but they love to get back home and they also enjoy doing the adventure together.

This is an adorable story of friendship and also of the feeling of home. While it is nice to get away, have new experiences, and travel, it is also a nice feeling to return home. This is a cute way to share this point and remind everyone that there really is no place like home. Also, there are so many elements of what makes a good friend throughout the book that it would be a great book to share with children to teach social/friendship skills as well. Children will enjoy listening to this story as it is short enough to hold their attention and the voices are entertaining and easy to listen to.
