Tricksters by N.L. McLaughlin begins with Ash and her friends, Hannah, Jasmine, and Ben, enjoying a road trip together. Looking for a place to stay the night, they decided to stop in Sierra Diablo and see what they could find in the small town. After meeting an attractive man named Caleb who offered to buy them drinks at a bar, Ash and her friends set up camp in a spot that the man suggested to them. Although Ash had expressed her doubt, her friends brushed it off. However, later that night, a terrified young girl approached them and begged for help. It seems like misfortune followed the young girl because not long after her arrival, Ash and her friends ended up fighting for their lives against a pack of bloodthirsty coyote shapeshifters. Meanwhile, Ash’s older brother, Matt, is anxious after she fails to come home or contact him. He decides to head out to Sierra Diablo to investigate further but what he discovers in that small town is far worse than anything he anticipated. Read Tricksters to learn more about this desert town shrouded in mystery!

Tricksters by N.L. McLaughlin is a fast-paced, well-written, entertaining thriller packed with action. I was constantly on the edge of my seat every time the pack of coyotes began their hunt. I admired Ash's character. Aside from being brave, she was cautious from the beginning, unlike her friends, and she was quick-witted. Reaching the part where Ash’s brother came to find her, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation because the story was so well-developed. I constantly looked forward to what would happen next. I liked how the story was also conveyed from the perspectives of different characters. It allowed me to relate to each character, which made me appreciate the story even more. The outcome was not what I expected, but that made it much better for me because I enjoy unexpected endings. This book has now become one of my favorites. Well done!
