Two Hearts Surrendered is a contemporary military romance written by Tamara Ferguson. Thirteen-year-old Luke was old before his time. While he worked so hard to conceal the bruises and other evidence of the man's physical abuse from his teacher, the school counselor and other adults in the community, there was no way to hide everything from the kids in the locker room. Luke's source of solace was Dragonfly Pointe; its sandy shores and cool waters providing him just enough comfort and strength to keep on going. Six-year-old Kelly Callahan was part of that other world, and watching her play reminded him painfully of his own little sister, Cassie, who was also gone. When he saw Kelly unnoticed and drowning in the lake, all thoughts of covering the still-bleeding scars from last night's beating were forgotten in his need to save her. Over the years that followed, the two of them would share a special bond that, given the right moment, might flower into a full-blown love.

Tamara Ferguson's Two Hearts Surrendered is well-written and engaging. Luke and Kelly are compelling characters whom the reader can't help but cheer for when they meet up and hope that the two, who are so obviously in love, will eventually find a way to make a life together. Ferguson peoples her story with other unforgettable characters as well, including Kelly's brother, Dan, the physical trainer, Steve, and Jake, owner of the Dragonfly Pointe Inn. Her plot is compelling and real, especially those parts concerning the care and rehabilitation of wounded veterans, and her romantic passages are sensitive, caring and tasteful. I enjoyed reading Two Hearts Surrendered, and I highly recommend it.

He saved the little girl from drowning and that was when the two formed a friendship that lasted years. First, there was friendship, then came attraction, but Luke was always hesitant to act on his attraction to Kelly and when he joins the armed forces things go back to simmer.

However, when he returns for the wedding of Kate, Kelly’s sister, they meet again and the two of them share a passionate night. But he has to go back to fulfill his duty to the Air Force. He returns as a wounded warrior, he is broken from the inside and out. And now it is Kelly’s turn to take what she wanted since she was a little girl. Neither Luke’s battered body nor his resolve will keep her away. She will love him with all she has and make him hers, forever.

Two Hearts Surrendered by Tamara Ferguson was an instant hit with me. I’m a sucker for a good military romance and this one topped the charts. I really loved the way every single thing was written and introduced. I loved Luke and his intensity and I loved Kelly and her innocent disposition. She knew what she wanted and brought Luke’s walls down. He literally caved and sagged into Kelly because of his past trauma and heartbreak. The two shared a bond and strength that allowed them to be a couple that I would love to read more about. A great military drama/romance that makes you want more.
