Undeterred: The Pendulum Swings On by Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul gives the reader insight into the challenges of embarking on a political career in Nigeria. It is clear that from his early days as a student he wanted to make a difference in the various communities of which he was a part, and this inspired his desire to make a difference for his country and people overall. His student activism days laid the foundation for his attempts at securing a governmental post. Not all were successful, and he euphemistically describes the encounters he had with corrupt processes. What is easily noted, though, is his determination to succeed in the political arena and it is an encouragement to those who are facing career challenges to keep persevering.

I enjoyed reading about the processes that Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul went through to achieve his goals. Undeterred: The Pendulum Swings On has some very interesting stories and anecdotes about his family, his life, his work, and his career. Whilst I picked up on some spelling and grammatical errors, they didn’t bother me much. It actually added authenticity to the narrative because the author has a different home language to English. One of the enjoyable aspects of the book was the layout of his achievements, with most of the chapters focusing on a particular time frame of his endeavors. Within some of these chapters, I could easily see the steps taken - and many achievements reached – with the use of effective headings. Quite an interesting read.
