Author Biography

J. Elizaga is a fan of science fiction and science mysteries. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she peered over her father's shoulders as he watched TV shows such as In Search Of and Carl Sagan's Cosmos during the 1970s. After immigrating to America in 1997, she now resides in Northern California where she works in training programs by day and makes time to write about humans who face extraordinary circumstances at night.

Unusual Light by J. Elizaga follows Ana Juliet otherwise known as AJ as she tries to make up for a bad bet by taking a more than suspicious job at the morgue of Shoreline Hospital. The job seemed simple enough; however, with strange calls being made near the night of the full moon and orbs floating about, AJ can’t help but want to get to the bottom of things. The only problem is no one else seems to notice the strange orbs except for Matt, one of the night security guards. Can the two work together and uncover the strange happenings in the morgue?

Unusual Light by J. Elizaga is definitely one of those diamonds in the rough stories. It presents itself as simple paranormal fiction but with each page you read the thrill and mystery of the story begin to set in. The chapters were quite short but Elizaga managed to seamlessly incorporate every bit of information needed to hook you as a reader which honestly takes some talent. I loved that within the entire novel we were given enough background information to feel connected to the characters while still working our way through the plot. The writing style and the way Elizaga managed to paint such a clear image without going into great detail shows the level of skill this author has. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I’m glad I chose this book to review. I will definitely be looking out for more of J. Elizaga’s work from now on.
