Author Biography

Every Wednesday, I attend lunch at the Senior Centre and many of our discussions revolve around the construction of a new nursing home. I began writing this story revolving around a nursing home and its residents after a close relative moved in, then out, following many tribulations.

I grew up in a small French Canadian town. I speak French and English. I attended military college for a year, then married a young officer and raised two daughters and a son. I enjoyed many wonderful postings in many different parts of Canada.

I'm not sure where time flew, but decades later, I ended up under the Northern Lights in Alberta spoiling a gorgeous little granddaughter.

J.S. Marlo focuses on a little town, Snow Deep, in Canada to show how love can spark a flame even in sub-zero temperatures. Unwanted is the fourth of her Duty Bound series. Abigail Cameron gets frustrated at people who do not insulate their pipes and need help every year with frozen pipes. But she also realizes this is great for her plumbing business to help pay for the care her Nana needs in the nursing home. Gabrielle’s mind only comprehends a fragment of what is happening around her and often jumbled it up with the past. The new doctor in town becomes acquainted with Gabrielle after Abigail asks him to review her medication. This old woman becomes the center of multiple crimes: murder, blackmail, sabotage, and a drug ring. It is up to Abigail and Dr. Fred to find the root of all this evil before someone else dies. The problem is the woman who can answer their questions cannot unscramble them in her mind.

J.S. Marlo lived in Canada and created a story that includes the events that would be a regular occurrence; frozen pipes, snowmobile accidents, and frostbite. Unwanted uncovers crimes that like to hide in remote areas. Abigail and Dr. Fred are well-developed characters and their shady pasts slowly unfold as they speed towards answers that will get them killed. There are characters that enter their lives that have nothing to do with the crimes going on, but they struggle with trusting anyone else. I love the phrase from the author: “If you can dance with my skeletons, I’m sure I can dance with yours.” The reader will experience an exciting, thrilling, and very entertaining novel. I wish I could pull out my favorite part, but there were too many.
