Author Biography

R. T. Coleman grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she nurtured a passion for reading and writing while nestled among blankets and pillows in her bedroom closet. Her love of science fiction was born when she saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977. Imagine her disappointment when she realized she could never actually be Princess Leia.

She lives in Springfield, Arkansas, with her partner Joe on their 25-acre farm, where she works as an instructional designer by day and a writer and editor by night. Vagabonder is her debut novel.

Vagabonder is a work in the science fiction, dystopian and suspense subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience owing to some scenes of death and violence. Penned by R.T. Coleman, this sensational opening novel introduces us to a futuristic world of darkness and despair where much of the human population has been lost to a deadly virus. While the ominous OnyxCorp enslaves the remainder of humanity, our protagonist Caen sets out to find the original moon colonists and seek a better future for his people. Along the way, a new face with her own personal struggles turns Caen’s journey into something even more unexpected.

R.T. Coleman offers a sensational opening novel that science fiction and dystopia fans will adore. For me, the initial strength of the work comes from having such a solid and sinister concept right at the start, which enables us to dive into the controlling world of OnyxCorp and the chilling world history of a decimated planet. The atmospheric writing develops this even further, with cinematic vistas of sterile lands and echoing, empty places, where our gargantuan hero Caen makes an impact every time he enters a scene. I also loved the development of Ligeia’s character and her drive and passion, which paired well with Caen’s unique approach to problem-solving and gave them some exciting clashes where sparks started to fly. Overall, I would recommend Vagabonder as a fully-realized vision of a dark dystopian future and a highly immersive read that you won’t want to let go of at the end. More, please!
