Voices of the Heart, a collection of poems by David D. Bernstein, is a thought-provoking book. The book has four sections: Voices of the Heart, Voices of Life, Voices of Soul, and Voices of Spirit. The author begins the book with a heartwarming poem in remembrance of his departed grandparents. He brings to light the plight of abused and neglected children and dedicates poems to artists such as pianists, painters, and poets. He uses constant themes of life, freedom, death, time, season, nature, pain, love, joy, and many more to convey the importance of life, cherishing special moments, and making a difference in the world.

Voices of the Heart took me on a life-changing journey. I felt each word and stanza in my soul. All the poems have a profound message for each reader, and people may have different interpretations, but one thing is for sure, you will feel something. It may be joy, love, glumness, or anger. David D. Bernstein is honest and raw in each poem, giving an authentic and relatable expression of his art. I liked the creative acronyms he used to describe words because they were unique and made me think of them from a new perspective. The book contains simple designs and beautiful pictures at the beginning of every chapter. I appreciate it when an author puts in the effort to make their work visually appealing. If you love reading poetry as I do, then pick up this book today and get lost on its roller coaster of emotions.
