“I dream of a better world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.” When Science Goes Bad: as Chicken Man, Pickle Man, and the Rat of Justice is a chicken’s adventure by Joseph Lupton. Chicken Man is delighted to meet the P. Humanitarian who donates his special chicken feed to the citizens of Avesepolis. As the chickens become too fat to move after eating the feed, the P. Humanitarian invites Crock Pot Man, the Poultry Chef, and the Fowl Butcher to play soccer with his popcorn chicken captives. Dark Chicken Lord has plenty of time to plan his revenge on Chicken Man who sent him to jail at the Poultry Justice Association (PJA). Pickle Man, Sir Carroton, Mr. Brusselman, and other vegetables attend Farmer Mac E’s party. Pickle Man enjoys the soil tub and veggie spa, oblivious to the farmer’s real motives until he watches GBC (Gherkin Broadcasting Company).

The hen-semble of puns will amuse you as well as the new gadgets, characters, and foods that made When Science Goes Bad so much fun to read. The superheroes had their hands full fighting evil. One of my favorite evil characters is Dark Chicken Lord, but Crock-Pot Man and the others are a few of the “love to hate” on my favorite list. They never quit trying to capture the superheroes and their friends. I hope I get to read more about Sir Oinksalot and Pig Man. Joseph Lupton will always have a loyal, growing fan base with his witty children’s adventure series.
