Who is Hiding in the Wild? by Amy Koze is a delightful picture book for young children. It introduces ten wild animals, inviting the reader to see if they can find them in the pictures – and they are very good at hiding. Then a fun fact is presented about each creature that adds to the guessing and discovery quest. This is a brilliant way to introduce wild animals to children – from cheetahs, elephants, and rhinos to crocodiles, kangaroos, and others. This is a great introduction to wild creatures and includes useful sources for discovering lots more at the end.

Who is Hiding in the Wild? is a well-written and beautifully presented book. I liked the format and young children will love the full-page character illustrations. Attractive and colorful, they will keep little ones engaged with factual information. The invitation to see if we can find each animal hidden in the illustrations is a fun idea and gives this educational book an additional interactive element. I found myself re-learning one or two facts that I had almost forgotten. My favorite animal has to be the owl with the very cute baby owlet.

Amy Koze has created an excellent book that parents and early educators will find useful for a story or lesson time at home or preschool. It contains the essential element of any good picture book – enticingly colorful and engaging. I advise sharing the book with young children and then talking about the animals with them. Fun, educational, and recommended for any child’s home or school library.
