Who’s That I Hear? is a children’s picture book by DJ Hill. It’s about a little boy who is afraid to go to sleep because there is a monster lurking around in his bedroom. “Bump, scritch, scratch” is the scary noise he hears and he doesn’t want a monster to eat him. He shouts out to his mother for help, but she tells him that it is just the wind. There is no need to worry. But the boy still hears the scary sound, “bump, scritch, scratch" and knows there is a great creature moving around in the bedroom. He doesn’t like this at all so this time he calls for his dad, as well as his mom too. Having Dad there doesn’t help, but they tell their son that the old floor squeaks, and they return to bed. The boy hears the noisy sound of little feet, but this time he decides not to call his parents. He’s going to be brave and play detective. Maybe the monster won’t eat him.

Who’s That I Hear? is a cute picture book that adults will connect to because we can be afraid of the dark too. Children seldom know this because adults keep it a secret. This is an updated adaptation of the Sesame Street Classic: The Monster at the End of This Book. DJ Hill has written a wonderful updated version. The waterful artwork is lovely. I also liked the surprising conclusion. Who’s That I Hear? is an amusing picture book that is recommended.
