Wild With All Regrets by E.L. Deards follows the tale of Lucas Conolly, a young man who has seen too many things and lost even more. Meeting Jamie changed Lucas’ life forever; in the same way, his death left just as much of a mark on Lucas. Having met when they were young and going through WWI together, Jamie and Lucas have many memories between them, not all good. It is only when Jamie’s ghost appears before him that Lucas needs to reflect on the past and how they ended up where they are.
Wild With All Regrets by E.L. Deards was such a multifaceted and emotional story that I held back tears at several points. The depth of the characters and their experiences truly allows you, as the reader, to empathize with their struggles. The fact that they lived at a time when you weren’t free to love who you wanted without being shunned is already heart-breaking, but after going through WWI, Jamie and Lucas seem to suffer so much. Deards did a wonderful job of portraying these characters and unfolding their story. I enjoyed the sequence of the multiple timelines we see for both characters as it slowly shows how they met and their many interactions when Jamie was alive. Overall, this book was such an emotional rollercoaster, but I loved every minute. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are in the mood to read a heartfelt tearjerker.
