Unbeknownst to us, supernatural creatures roam this world, and the Bureau exists to deal with their extraordinary crimes. Harvest Rosenbloom, a trainee at the Missing Persons Unit, failed to trace her estranged elder sister, Hazel. After two years, Hazel has finally sent Harvest a cryptic message. Harvest pleads with Julian Quinn, a senior agent who happens to be a vampire, to help her with the investigation. As the duo proceeds, it becomes clear that the mystery runs deeper than they imagined. With a group of dangerous vampires on their trail, will they emerge unscathed? Find out in Wish You Were Here, a supernatural thriller by J. Lynn Carr.

I loved J. Lynn Carr’s portrayal of a mischief-laden world full of vampires, werewolves, witches, and fae. She merged their unique ways of life to create a beautiful tapestry that will enthrall any fantasy lover. I loved the magical technologies the Bureau used that blurred the distinction between the ordinary and the supernatural. As Carr gently unravels the mystery, bringing new players into the mix, it becomes impossible to predict how the story will proceed. She kept the mystery alive till the last page so that one doubts even the trustworthy characters. Despite it being a plot-driven story, I was amazed at how fleshed-out each character was. Carr lets us glimpse their innermost feelings and insecurities. I rooted for Harvest as her zeal to prove herself overcame all her inhibitions. Watching the subtle hint of attraction between her and Quinn blossom was a treat. Finally, I loved the solidarity between the Rosenbloom sisters that kept them going despite all odds. Wish You Were Here is a perfect read for The Dresden Files and Jackaby fans.
