Xentar: Galactic Conquest by William J is a political science fiction novel with incredible world-building and well-developed characters. Set in a galaxy ruled by the Chalice of Power, no one had any control over any aspect of their lives. The Chalice of Power consists of three very powerful individuals who stayed in the shadows and destroyed worlds and lives, however they pleased. No one knows who they are, but Xentar knows of their existence. He is the only one who can stop them, but for a price. Xentar has to make sacrifices (some he is willing, some he isn’t) as he travels to the darkest pits of the galaxy to find and end them. On the way, he comes across three individuals who are exactly what he needs to end the reign of the Chalice of Power or they might be the end of his journey. Will Xentar take the risk of entangling his fate with three strangers?

Absolutely fantastic. Usually, science fiction is over-complicated and tough to understand, but not this novel. Author William J. did a fantastic job of creating a pace and narrative style that is entertaining, easy to digest and invest in. Xentar’s character is an enigma. He knows a lot of things and is aware of things that he shouldn’t be. There is an air of mystery around him, a little something I cannot put my finger on and I hope that the author will expand on this in the sequel. The concept is used often enough, but the execution is what makes this story stand out. The world-building is incredible; the concept of three powerful beings controlling worlds for their amusement and a singular man with the power and will to change things forever. Xentar is the underdog, and the readers cannot help but cheer for him. The pace is perfect, the action is intense, and the mystery is alive. I cannot wait for the next novel in the series.
