Yellow Slicker is a psychological mystery thriller by Deanna Nese. The story covers over two and a half decades of Duncan Knight's life, starting in the mid-90s. Duncan, a young man born into a prosperous family, has his life turned upside down when his car hits someone while returning home from a party with his friends. Once at home, Duncan soon discovers a yellow piece of clothing attached to his car. Horrified by the implications, he refuses to call the authorities and decides to navigate life as usual. As the years pass, Duncan becomes a successful realtor and a family man. But guilt continues to plague him as he keeps seeing messages and evidence of someone insinuating they know his deepest secret. Will Duncan ever be able to solve the mystery and get rid of the albatross around his neck?

Yellow Slicker is one of those psychological thrillers that draw your attention from the get-go. Author Deanna Nese keeps the cards close to her chest and delays unveiling the mystery until the very end. It makes for a captivating hook that will have you breezing through the pages, wondering what's going to happen next. The unpredictability of the plot and some stellar character work make the narrative a pleasure to read. Duncan feels like a fully-fleshed-out person whose inner trauma and guilt plagued him throughout decades, making him unable to find fulfillment despite his personal and career success. This makes him a compelling protagonist you can relate to. Fans of psychological thrillers should love this one.
