Zebulon Harris: Teen Medium by A.M. Wheeler is the story of sixteen-year-old necromancer Zeb Harris, who isn't exactly thrilled with his ability to commune with the dead. He's a reluctant student at Eusapia Palladino Academy, a high school for youths with similar capabilities. More of a fly on the wall than his mother would prefer, Zeb does what he has to but nothing more; head down, work done, go home, rinse and repeat. When he sees a new student named Karen at the academy, she's quick to pull Zeb out of wallflower mode and becomes a fast friend. And then...he finds out that Karen is actually dead.

Zebulon Harris: Teen Medium by A.M. Wheeler is an excellent work of young adult fiction with all of the right stuff to make it enjoyable for youthful adults as well. Zeb is a fantastically well layered and authentic character who sounds, speaks, and behaves exactly how you'd think a teenage boy would. Sure, he's chatting up spirits, but honestly, who really wants to be *that* guy? Zeb doesn't, and his thought process was often hilarious. Karen is also thoroughly depicted and Wheeler does a great job with revelations into Zeb's past, his relationship with his mother, and a plot involving the backstory of his nefarious father. There's a romance that plays out comfortably alongside a cast of hilariously not-quite-human ancillary characters, which all together round out the story to make a quality read that's not easy to put down.
