Book Review
Our story begins June 5, 2023. Moliomyositis is a virus that is devastating the world. Humans are in danger of extinction. Dr. Henry Marsh manipulated DNA to form Homo sapiens heredis. Saphers are kept away from the public. Purist want the saphers destroyed while others want them freed. Marsh’s daughter Katie joins the staff at the Center for Human Genetic Advancement as a reproductive scientist. Ryder is a sapher. He and Katie were friends from childhood. They declared their love for each other as children and mixed their blood in a friendship ceremony. However, Katie was human and Ryder was considered a half breed.
Ryder wants his freedom. He has a secret and knows it is important no find out but it is too late some are beginning to suspect, and Katie knows the truth. The fate of mankind lies in the hands of the one they hate. However, the plot doesn’t stop with a menacing virus and half breed humans. It continues with assault, murder, and romance.
K.C. May offers readers a fast paced plot. The plot flows smoothly with never a glitch. While this is sci-fi/fantasy it is not so far-fetched that I could not see possible reality. The characters are likable and well developed. I like Ryder. It was easy to dislike Mann. I thought the name was a great play on words. Mann tried to destroy the one person who could save man. This is a fascinating book that will please fans of sci-fi and fantasy. I look forward to reading more by K.C. May.
