Author Biography

Bruce Thatcher is founder of History Speaks Today, a project dedicated to sharing great lessons learned from our past. He truly believes that much can be learned and applied today from successes and failures of our past. On his web site and in his talks he clarifies what we should learn and adopt from the handling and mishandling of issues within national security, national solidarity, social progress, immigration and other crucial areas of stumbling by nations' leaders.

Early on he recognized that one reality confronts many government leaders in the world because it affects their national security … even existentially! That reality is ‘adamant aggressors’ exist, and some of them are in positions of significant power. Adamant Aggressors , released in 2011, is a collection of historical cases that demonstrate unassailable do’s and don’ts for dealing with today’s international threats.

Thatcher grew up in the midwest, and graduated from Iowa State College and the University of Chicago. He worked in marketing and management with General Electric and The Vendo Company, then founded and led a telecommunications consulting firm until his retirement.

While living in the Chicago area, he became involved in politics and was elected to a local high school Board of Education, serving a term as its President. He has also taught classes at Avila University, William Jewel College and the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Thatcher and his wife live near New Braunfels, Texas.

Adamant Aggressors: How to Recognize and Deal with Them by Bruce D. Thatcher is the first book in the History Speaks Today series. It focuses on analyzing the adamant aggression of infamous historical figures and concludes invaluable lessons and discussion for influential policymakers in America today.

Adamant Aggressors: How to Recognize and Deal with Them is a ‘must-follow’ guideline that can and should be read by anyone; political intellectuals, policymakers, future scholars, and laymen. Adamant Aggressors is a very comprehensive and thorough book in aggression analyses. It is highly readable with Thatcher’s efficient and methodical approach on each adamant aggressor’s case, including Hitler and Stalin. The lessons may not be the silver bullets in terms of making the best choices right away, but as a whole, they are perfect boosts that we all need in terms of decision making. The only minor flaw is that the quality of several images included in this book, especially the maps, could be better. Nevertheless, this is perhaps the most important material in terms of history and theory of political science so far.

You can imagine if significant decision-makers take serious note of it and have the will to address their methods, based on what they learn from Thatcher’s work, the world might be in a better shape in the near future. In Thatcher own words, “It’s time we put these lessons of history to practical use, bettering the world we live in and our position in it.”
