Nascent Wings: A Poetic Endeavor by Surabhi is a collection of poems where the poet takes you on a journey of different aspects of life that challenge and change your perspective. The verses are motivational and simple in language. Well worded, the poems speak about social issues, love, and other emotions. The poems are all thematic and the classification makes it easy for the reader to decide what to choose first to read.
Poetry is always a creative art. It is just not an expression of emotions; it also reflects the creative side of a writer. Poetry has no rules as to how to pen it, so it is always the writer's aesthetic talent that is reflected. That is why reading poetry is interesting. I found the set of poems under 'Society' very challenging. The poet has tried to capture the current society of her country, India, and the social issues faced in the country, both negative and positive. She speaks very effectively about the stigma against having a girl child and how unsafe a girl is in her country. Another good theme the poet covers in this book is 'Change' which is also very motivating and inspiring.
This collection covers many emotions which have affected the poet's thinking in one way or the other and motivated her to share those feelings with readers. The poems all have good wordplay where emotions are conveyed very effectively. I enjoyed this.
