Priana Grey is not the usual bank robbery hostage in this engaging story about the presence of supernaturals in the every-day world. Sanctum Angels Shadow Havens Book 1 by Edenmary Black explores the good and the bad of the supernatural world and the interaction of its various members with the human world. After Pria is rescued by detective Joe Cafaris from a crazed bank robber, neither of them can deny strong feelings for one another. The fact that she is half angel and half vampire creates certain obstacles and draws the concern of Pria’s stepbrother who keeps a close eye on her. He has his own secret, though, and an age-old conflict between his parents and his girlfriend’s father brings everyone together in a fight for their lives. The desire to dominate leads to a battle between the Sanctum, Pria’s home, and the Demesne, the home of the supernaturals who prey on humans, leaving Joe and Pria in a desperate situation.

Edenmary Black has created a modern world with supernatural beings of pure and mixed backgrounds living close to humans. Priana Grey is a supernatural who wants to live and work among the humans, and the story creatively blends the needs and abilities of the angels, daemons, werewolves and vampires with the realities of every-day life. Entertaining and exciting, the story is full of sub-plots that allow for all the characters to become real and have their own very special parts to play as the action unfolds. Complete in itself, Sanctum Angels is a great read but creates the desire to follow the lives of the characters in upcoming volumes.
