Pearls among Stones by Christena AV Williams is a collection of poems where the poet speaks about diverse topics. Her writings are influenced by God and music and some of the poems revolve around that theme. They also speak about her inner turmoil and she hopes, through her writings, to connect with readers who feel pain in their lives. Her writings are profound and thought provoking and her poems evoke a positive feeling in the minds of readers. She speaks of love, hope, God and many relevant topics that readers can easily relate to.
Her belief in God and her love for music form the theme of a few poems in this book.'Poetry is my Herb' and 'Poetry is my Religion' are poems that show the poet's love for the art. The poems that are tributes to Bob Marley and Maya Angelou are the two other poems that I liked in this collection. 'Blue Skies' is a poem with a positive vibe. Many poems revolve around her homeland, Jamaica, and many things that are related to Jamaica. The reggae beats and the poet's love for reggae music and blues is evident from many poems in the collection.
The style of writing is simple, honest, and straight forward. On the whole, the collection is beautiful and some of the poems are soul-searching and inspire you to look at life and the things around you with a different perspective.
