The Food Revenge, written by Yael Manor and illustrated by Anahit Aleqsanyan and Ani Vardanyan, is the third story in a series about twins that teaches a valuable lesson to children. Emma and Ethan love throwing their food on the floor during their meals, resulting in a dirty floor and making the twins’ parents very angry. One day, the food items that are on the floor talk amongst themselves and come up with a plan to teach the twins to not throw their food, but to eat it instead. Before the children can take a bite out of their food, the tomato, omelet, bread, cheese, pie, and potato all initiate the plan to teach the twins a lesson.
An important lesson about not throwing and wasting food is taught in a child-friendly way here. Yael Manor does an excellent job with writing this story as it is at a level that young children will enjoy and that will hold their attention. The sentences are short and to the point and there are only a few sentences to each page, making this a good choice for beginner readers as well. The illustrations by Anahit Aleqsanyan and Ani Vardanya are vibrant and are filled with details. The concept of this book is unique, and so creative. The idea of the food talking and taking revenge on the twins is clever and entertaining for children. After reading this book, I am going to check out the other books in this series as well!
