A Whisper on the Wind by Sandra H. Esch is the powerful depiction of love and drama in the life of Jo Bremley. Amber Leaf holds many painful memories for Jo Bremley because it reminds her of her husband and his death. She blames his friend Tryg Howland for her husband's untimely demise. An assignment forces her to work hand in hand with this young and successful attorney. She finds herself drawn to his aura and charm. All her efforts to stop falling in love with Tryg become futile although she feels that she is betraying her dead husband's memory. Will Jo forget the past and accept her feelings for Tryg? Or will she fight hard to stop her feelings?
The story deals with conflicting emotions, raw emotions, and compelling characters that will keep readers glued to the story. The theme of love and redemption is heart warming and poignant and gives the book a spiritual angle. The setting of the story in Amber Leaf is gentle and beautiful, and the visual aspect in the narration gives an overall effect of softness to the story. The characters have been portrayed with depth and character and the author has woven Christian principles into the theme masterfully.
The story has a positive impact on readers, which is one of the strong points of the book. The emotional and spiritual concepts in the theme give it a nice texture while reading. The authenticity of the theme, the settings, and the characters make it an enjoyable story. I found the story beautiful. It has drama, romance, spirituality, and many other emotions woven together beautifully to make it an aesthetically appealing story.
