Emily had been dumped by her boyfriend the previous day so she had drunk herself to sleep. Now imagine waking up with a major hangover and a 'moving' sausage in your bathroom. That is how Emily's day had begun and it only got worse as the day went on. The horoscope in the papers that day spoke of the earlier events in her bathroom and also predicted a few others that came true. More bizarre things continued happening to her that day, like the disappearance of the interior of her home; furniture, clothes, books, dishes etc, everything literally disappeared into thin air, except her housemate's ugly plant. Things got even more peculiar with happenings that are beyond any logical or scientific explanation. Now Emily is working with two opposing groups in an effort to solve the mystery of what is happening to her, with psychics fighting to prove that these are paranormal events and physicist determined to arrive at a scientific explanation for the peculiar events
Plato's Cave by Russell Proctor is a science fiction thriller about a girl whose life is literally turned upside-down overnight. Russell Proctor wrote a one of a kind science fiction/paranormal story full of action, suspense and a touch of humor. One of the really remarkable aspects of this book is how Russell took simple things, like a tree, sausages, and stars, and managed to use them to create a really creepy feeling. This is not a bloody and dark story that will make you want to leave your light on in the night, unless you fear sausages; instead it is the kind of story that has all the hair on your body standing on end as you read. I was stunned by the main character and how she managed to hold it together and even manage to keep a smile where many would have totally freaked out. The way the whole story was put together is simply amazing.
