Have you ever thought about hiking on your own? Then A Hiking Solo Guide: Just Me, the Trees, and My Thoughts (Help!) by Bob Klann is a book you should always have at hand. This detailed, humorous guide will help you consider every aspect of solo hiking, including what to wear outdoors, what to eat, and how to choose a trail or a comfortable backpack correctly. The book also has a chapter dedicated to brave women on the trail and how they can improve their experience while hiking. Where can we get the necessary information about the trails? How can we protect ourselves from curious wildlife? What should we have in the first-aid kit? Where can we find other solo hikers? How do we tell a good campfire story? A Hiking Solo Guide provides detailed answers to these and many other questions.

Before reading A Hiking Solo Guide, I hadn't the slightest idea that hiking required such serious preparation. Bob Klann clearly explains to newbies like myself the intricacies of the whole process. While highlighting the positive aspects of solo hiking, Bob also tells us about the risks we may encounter on the path. It may be a heavy rain, an unexpected meeting with a wild animal, or a sprained ankle. The author explains how to minimize all these risks and enjoy the adventure. A Hiking Solo Guide shows that Bob loves nature and being outdoors. Bob's enthusiasm is contagious and inspiring. He encourages us to journal trips and always be proud of our accomplishments. "Windswept hair, a dab of mud on the cheek—those are badges of honor," writes Bob about taking memorable pictures outdoors. I appreciated Bob's poetic writing style and his call to be careful and respectful toward the environment. I highly recommend this funny and informative book to beginners, experienced hikers, and fans of humor.
