BarCats by Douglas Keil introduces us to Ethan, who is saving the BarCats from certain death when he meets Annie. Annie is a mysterious woman, who is going to prison for trying to protect her Mafia uncle. Ethan falls madly in love with her. Having fallen in love, Ethan finds himself in the middle with the Feds and the mob and he still risks everything to try to get Annie out of prison. He has since married her. In this journey, he has the responsibility of a bodyguard from Sicily, a con man who is dying, and myriad other characters, not the least of which are the BarCats themselves.

This was a very interesting story. There was so much going on you really have to pay attention, but that is what also makes a good book. I love the BarCats, but I am a cat lover at heart. With that said, I also love Ethan as a character. He has a good heart, even if he has to be manipulative sometimes in what he is doing. He also finds himself being manipulated and it is a give and take. The flow of this book is good - it really picks up after the first chapters. There are quite a few characters and sometimes it became a little hard to keep track of them. However, it was still a wonderfully written book and you can tell that Douglas Keil has a knack and a flair for writing and telling a good story. I would recommend this one to anyone who wants to dig into a good tale.
