Burning Love by T. Renee is the follow up to Hearts on Fire. This story symbolizes the tumultuous storms in life and the psychology of loss. We encounter Tameka, unable to accept the void left by the death of the one person she loved with her whole being — Letti — and now she is drowning herself in liquor. She inadvertently finds herself living three different lives, but which of these can withstand the crucible of fate? Can she assume responsibility for the twins — Ethan and Emma — left behind by Letti or will the court grant custody of the children to someone else? Lucas Tibadeaux’s life challenges him in a way he never expected after the death of his sister, but then an unexpected person comes into his life. What happens next is a journey that readers will enjoy.
T. Renee’s novel is beautifully written and it explores the themes of family, love, loss, and letting go in an intelligent manner, following the journey of broken characters that find meaning in unexpected places. What does it take to let go, to really let go and attain inner freedom? Such is one of the questions that this story answers. The voice is strong and consistent. The story starts with a tragic event, a fire accident that introduces the crisis point. The personification of the house consumed by fire at the beginning creates a sense of mystery that accompanies the events. The prose has the ability to conjure up vivid images in the reader’s mind. The characters are elaborately explored, multidimensional, and complex, and each fits into the story like a piece in a chess game. Burning Love is intelligently plotted and written to a satisfying conclusion, a story that will resonate with readers.
