Author Biography

I write thrillers, but decided to write something different and was not disappointed at all. I'm happy readers like the way it turned out.
Butterfly Lake is a story about the bonds of enduring friendship, faith and family. What starts off as a well-deserved family vacation on the pristine waters of a mountain lake community, leads the reader into the unthinkable and something the peaceful town of Pinecrest, Pa. will not soon forget.

Butterfly Lake by Robert J. Saniscalchi is a thriller featuring Vietnam war veterans Rob and Tex. Tex had just arrived at Rob’s lakeside cabin in Pennsylvania for a vacation with his wife and two kids. On the second day, they had no sooner prepared lunch when they realized fourteen-year-old Lori was missing, last seen chasing butterflies near the woods. Search teams scour the area, but Rob and Tex start off on their own search, following a suspicious pair of footprints on a trail that heads up into the mountains. What has happened to Lori? Tex has guessed the worst as a dad and is armed and ready to kill her abductors to get her back. Will they find Lori alive and unharmed, or will they be too late?

In Butterfly Lake, Robert J. Saniscalchi gives us an entertaining thriller that finds best buddies Rob and Tex again facing danger. The narrative is descriptive. The plot moves at a good pace, with a turn or twist along the way. The portrayal of the former warriors as still prepared to fight when danger threatens their loved ones is sensitively handled, including references to flashbacks from their combat days. Their families are shown as unpretentious people who enjoy ordinary things such as family time, friendship, a beautiful lake, a successful fishing trip, a cold beer, or a tasty barbecue. One of my favorite characters is Lori, a wonderful teen whose level-headedness shines through in the face of terror. Overall, I enjoyed reading Butterfly Lake and look forward to more “Rob and Tex” stories.
