Okay, full disclosure here. I must admit to being a long time fan of professional wrestling. The drama, the spectacle, and most simply, the fun of the "sport" has had me hooked from the time I was a young boy. So when I saw the storyline for author Bob Miller's debut novel, Marks, I absolutely knew that I had to read it. And I was not disappointed. Follow the story of Thom Kincannon as he discovers, while cleaning out the house of his deceased father, that his dad lived a life as a professional wrestler as a young man. A history he'd kept hidden from everyone, Thom's dad's life was quite the thrill ride before his marriage, and Thom is determined to discover this hidden history.
Written in a unique 'story within a story' format, author Bob Miller has done a masterful job at presenting both a fantastic fictional read that will have you turning the pages, but also an insider's look at the world of professional wrestling that seems so realistic that it is likely the author may have had real life experience in this area. Marks is a book that would be enjoyed by any reader who simply loves a great piece of fiction written in a unique way, but especially those who love a story of family discovery, or who have an interest in professional wrestling. I highly recommend Marks. I enjoyed this book immensely, and I certainly hope that author Bob Miller will continue his work in the world of fiction. I, for one, will be watching for his next release, and will snap it up as soon as it's available.
