Plaid Tidings is a new read by a trusted author Mia Marlowe. Lord Alexander Mallory wins a castle in a game of chance. But he is unaware that, along with the castle, he has also won a bride. Lucinda McOwen is betrothed to the Lord of Bonniebroch and she fears she will have to marry a balding, paunchy man and has somewhat resigned herself to her predetermined fate. To make matters worse, Lucinda has had her own personal ghost since childhood and his advice is sometimes confusing for her. When Lucinda meets the Lord of Bonniebroch, their lives are forever destined to change. Lord Mallory fights his heart with every ounce of determination in his body but there appears to be a stronger fate awaiting him in the form of Lucinda McOwen.
These are totally lovable characters and most readers will be cheering for the inevitable end to the story. There are delightful twists along the way and mysteries to keep the eye and the imagination focused. Plaid Tidings is 'just another historical romance' and yet, it is unique to the degree that it will keep the pages turning and the mind spinning. Marlowe is highly adept at keying the reader into the appropriate century and setting and there is just enough history to woo the reader into putting him or herself right into the pages of the story. The tale of the ghosts and the weeping widow is a delightful enticement for readers who think they've been there before.
