Regarding Jeffrey by Amy Reece is set in the 1960s. The plot revolves around Linda and Jeffrey and the struggles that they go through while coming to terms with growing up. Linda joins a new school in West Hartford, Connecticut, and she finds herself lost there. Jeffrey is a restless boy in the class, whom Linda finds annoying. Jeffrey never walks, he always sprints. Jeffrey was never still, he always had to move. The twist in the story happens when Jeffrey is accused of stealing money from the school baseball team. Linda realizes that she has to find the truth and fight for what is right.
Set in the '60s, the book captures that period when the music of the Beatles reigned supreme. The author weaves the story beautifully through this time with a lot of humor and heart-warming moments, taking readers down Memory Lane. The elementary school action and the love/hate relationship of Jeffrey and Linda will touch the hearts of readers and leave them wanting more. The elementary school adventures are relatable, making the story appealing and nostalgic to readers. The story is wonderfully descriptive and will take you back to your childhood and school days. The characters are well portrayed, making readers love them. It is a book I would recommend not only for elementary school kids but also for adults, especially if they grew up in the ‘60s.
