The Cousins family is about to embark on a journey of discovery that they never expected. Birdie has just ended an unfulfilling 30 year marriage and she is dipping her toe into the dating scene. The story starts with her, planning her oldest daughter's wedding. Everything seems to be going well, until late one night when Chess calls her to say that she has called off the wedding. No explanations. She just says she can't go through with it. If canceling the wedding weren't enough, she also drops the bombshell that she has quit her job. What is going on here? Birdie puts a hold on her new found love interest and decides to go to their family home on Tuckerknuck Island. She takes Chess, her younger daughter, Tate, and her sister, India. She believes it will be a time for them to reconnect. She never expected the uproar they find themselves in. Family living in close quarters for a month leads to some very surprising revelations. The competitive relationships that each set of sisters has comes to a head on the island. Old hurts are revealed and healed. Old loves and new loves are found. It is a month that this group of women will never forget. It will change their relationship with each other and themselves forever.

I absolutely loved this story. It was so real. Sister's have such a push and pull relationship. Elin Hilderbrand describes this relationship wonderfully. I'm ready to go to Tuckerknuck Island. I recommend this book to every woman.
