The cardinal is a magnificent bird with crimson feathers and a black beak. It will take your breath away and fill your heart with warmth and joy. This beautiful bird can appear unexpectedly, reminding you to cherish life's moments of beauty and comfort. Known for their sweet melodies, cardinals sing lullabies and serenade the moon, offering a message of peace and tranquility. They watch over you and never say goodbye. Additionally, cardinals can serve as an inspirational symbol, providing hope and motivation even in the darkest moments. Elizabeth Newberry's When You See a Cardinal beautifully captures the magic and beauty of these birds. The story revolves around a young girl who, despite feeling sad and blue, experiences good luck after sighting a cardinal. They become her friends and companions.

The illustrations by Kate Fennee in When You See a Cardinal are stunning, capturing the essence of the bird and the emotions of the story's characters. Elizabeth Newberry's writing style provides valuable lessons for both children and adults who have experienced grief. Her inspiration for the book came from her passionate advocacy for individuals facing rare diseases, inspired by her brother Tyler, making this book an excellent addition to the libraries of counselors, teachers, and parents. These birds can also represent loved ones who have passed away but remain close by, providing comfort when needed most. As messengers, cardinals are always present, offering companionship and support. The book offers a message of hope, comfort, and healing that can inspire and uplift those who read it.
