In Yeti in the Serengeti by Nancy Derey Riley, readers are introduced to Ohm, a yeti who resides in Nepal with his family. Despite his love for his family, Ohm hates the frigid climate of Nepal. His bed is lumpy, and the snow and ice are treacherous. Frustrated, he decides to embark on a journey to find a warmer place to call home. Although his family is saddened by his departure, Ohm packs his yak and sets out on his adventure. Ohm's travels take him across the Black Sea through Athens, Dubrovnik, and Split. Despite his journey, he still hasn't found a place to call home. Refusing to give up, he continues his quest until he reaches the Serengeti. The heat and warm food make Ohm feel content. But he feels like he is missing something; he is lonely. Has Ohm found his true home? Will he ever see his family again?

Nancy Derey Riley has enriched the story by including a map of Europe, a valuable educational tool that enables young readers to follow Ohm's adventure and learn about different countries. The book also includes descriptions of famous landmarks, enhancing children's knowledge of geography and culture. The rhyming words make it an engaging read-aloud for children ages four to eight.
