Book Review
David W. Dorris offers sage advice in his book Life Is too Short: Choices In Life . We only have one life our choices, and attitude determines whether we are truly happy or just existing.
I for one want to be truly happy. Our choices have a lot to do with our happiness. We all make occasional bad choices. I’ve known people that have made nothing but bad choices. They are miserable and just existing. Our attitude determines how happy we are. The old adage if you have lemons make lemonade applies here. Our attitude determines whether a challenge defeats us or becomes an opportunity.
I found a bit of humor in this book. I loved the chapter on “Sticking your nose in other people’s business.” The section on hating others speaks volumes. Hate does more harm to ourselves than to those we hate. It is wasted energy. I recently heard the following statement, “why are you allowing ______ to rent space in your head.” Meaning why are you allowing that person to bug you. That is now my mantra. Some things just aren’t worth worrying about. Dorris writes in a clear, easy-to-understand style. I like this book. Well done, Mr. Dorris. Everyone can benefit from Life Is too Short: Choices In Life.
