Book Review
As the civil war battles on, near the plantation home of Caroline a bitter battle unleashes.

With her mother and father both dead, her brother off fighting in the war, Caroline has the responsibility of taking care of her  grandmother and her  younger brother Andrew. She blames God for all that has happened and the problems she is now having, for the war, the death of her parents,  her brother  off to war. All this has diminished her faith that she just cannot seem to get restored.

Nate ,shot and left for dead out on the back part of Carolines  property thanks God for the angel sent his way. As he recovers with the aid and medical attention from Caroline and her  grandmother, Andrew wants him out of the house, but does not want his sister to turn him over to the sheriff. As he pleads with  his sister she can’t but help to wonder  why her brother is so upset over this matter. Just who shot Nate and his 2 soldiers on the back property and who was watching at the time.

Jed, injured in the war , returned home, took the job as the local sheriff. He has become very bitter and is set to kill any Yankee whether in uniform or not . As he pressures Caroline more and more to marry him, she keeps putting him off. As more things surface she knows for sure that now she will not marry him.

As her faith grows so has her affection for Nate. Will this work out for them? ..Has her brother been killed in the war as she heard or was it just a lie? Can she live down the rumors that she had been seen with a Yankee?

If you are a lover of  historical novels centered around the civil war era, then you can’t go wrong reading this  book. The book is well written and you cannot help but come to root on Caroline  and Nate, even though they are victims of the war separating  the north and the south.
